Farah Khan jokes about Deepika Padukone’s 8-hour work rule: ‘She doesn’t have time...’

Mumbai: Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has sparked online buzz with her lighthearted jab at actor Deepika Padukone’s reported eight-hour work policy. In her latest vlog, Farah visited actor Rohit Saraf’s home in Mumbai, accompanied by her cook Dilip, where the comment came up during a casual chat.
When Dilip asked about inviting Deepika to their vlog show, Farah quipped,
“She will come on the show the day you will go to your village” and added,
“Deepika Padukone only shoots for 8 hours a day now. She doesn't have time to come on the show.”
To this, Dilip responded, “Then I’ll also shoot for eight hours a day,” prompting Farah to joke, “You actually only shoot for only 2 hours a day right now, you will also do it for 8 hours from now on.”
Though made in jest, Farah’s remarks touch on a much-discussed topic in Bollywood—work-life balance, especially for women in the industry.
Background: The Deepika work hour debate
Deepika Padukone, who recently welcomed her first child with husband Ranveer Singh, has reportedly opted for limited working hours to prioritise her personal life. According to reports, the actor was dropped from the Prabhas-starrer Spirit due to her insistence on an eight-hour shift, a substantial fee, and a share in profits.
Deepika is currently filming King, marking her sixth on-screen collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan.
At the same time, Vyjayanthi Movies recently confirmed that Deepika will not return for the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD.
