Dhurandhar box office: Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller joins elite Rs 1,000 crore club

The spy thriller “Dhurandhar” crossed the historic ₹1,000 crore mark at the global box office on Friday, becoming only the ninth Indian film in history to join the elite club.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, the film reached the milestone on its 21st day of release. Boosted by strong Christmas Day ticket sales, the film’s worldwide gross now stands at approximately ₹1,006.70 crore.
In the domestic market, the film has earned ₹668.80 crore net, equivalent to a gross of ₹789.18 crore. Its overseas performance contributed an additional ₹217.50 crore to the total.
The achievement places “Dhurandhar” alongside cinematic heavyweights such as “Dangal,” “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion”, and “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” It is the first film released in 2025 to reach the ₹1,000 crore threshold.
Industry analysts noted the film's resilience at the box office, particularly given its "A" (Adults Only) rating from the Central Board of Film Certification. The film has now surpassed the global earnings of the 2023 hit “Animal” to become the highest-grossing adult-rated Indian film of all time.
The movie’s success comes despite it not being released in Gulf countries, a traditional stronghold for major Bollywood productions.
Singh, who plays the lead role of a veteran intelligence agent, saw a significant surge in ticket sales during the holiday week. Daily collections on Friday remained high, with trade experts estimating earnings between ₹26 crore and ₹28 crore for the day.
Production houses have already moved to capitalise on the momentum. A sequel, “Dhurandhar 2,” has been scheduled for a March 19, 2026, theatrical release.
