‘Waiting for two years is not true...’: Dhanush’s father on legal battle with Nayanthara

Kasthuri Raja, father of actor Dhanush, has allegedly refuted Nayanthara’s claims regarding her ongoing legal dispute with his son. The controversy began after Nayanthara shared an open letter accusing Dhanush of not granting her a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) to use footage from ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ in her Netflix documentary, ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale.’
In her letter, Nayanthara alleged that she had waited for two years for Dhanush’s approval to use the footage but eventually re-edited the documentary after he declined permission. She also revealed that Dhanush’s legal team sent her a notice claiming Rs 10 crore in damages for a three-second behind-the-scenes clip used in the trailer.
However, according to Samayam Tamil, Kasthuri Raja dismissed Nayanthara’s claims of following up with Dhanush for two years as untrue. “As Nayanthara said, waiting for two years is not true information. Dhanush is busy with his upcoming films," he stated.
He also addressed the focus on work that he and his son maintain, saying, “Work is important to us. We are running ahead. There is no time to answer those who chase us or those who talk about us behind our backs. Like me, my son is focused only on work."
Additionally, Kasthuri Raja said he was unaware of Nayanthara’s relationship with filmmaker Vignesh Shivan until after ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ had been released.
In her letter, Nayanthara expressed disappointment with Dhanush’s legal action. “What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix Documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot in our personal devices and that too BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media and claimed a sum of Rs 10 crores as damages for the mere 3 seconds," she wrote.
The legal notice, sent by Dhanush’s lawyer, emphasized the need for proof, stating, “My client is the producer of the film and your client has stated that my client has not commissioned any person to shoot the behind the scenes footage and the said statement is baseless and your client is to put strict proof of the same."
Dhanush has not yet publicly responded to Nayanthara’s allegations.
