Star couple Vinu Mohan-Vidhya helps poor people on streets amid lockdown

Kottayam: Mollywood star couple Vinu Mohan and Vidhya extended a helping hand to the poor people who are wandering on the streets and struggling to meet their basic needs. They have given a makeover to these people loitering in Kottayam town with torn clothes, shabby hair and unkept hygiene.
The vagabonds were taken to the mobile bathroom to make them aware of personal hygiene. At first, they were given a haircut and clean shave. Later, they had a bath inside the mobile bathroom. After taking bath, clean clothes were distributed to them.
Once they got ready by wearing the clothes, they recieved food packets.
“You have to take bath regularly and clean yourselves before having food daily,” Vinu told the people.
When the whole world is on the mission to counter the pandemic coronavirus, Vinu and his wife are creating awareness on personal hygiene among the abandoned people on the streets.
“I came to know about such people in the town when I met Theruvoram Murugan, a social activist. Following the lockdown, everyone is engaged in feeding the poor and they are not bothered about personal hygiene of these people. Many people who are wandering on the streets may find it difficult to get water to take regular bath. So when I decided to trace such people and help them, my wife also joined me in the mission,” explained Vinu Mohan.
Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (A.M.M.A) sponsored the mobile bathroom for Vinu Mohan’s unique mission.
In a single journey, 20 people can take bath in the mobile bathroom. So far, Vinu Mohan and his friends helped over 300 people maintain personal hygiene by giving bath and haircut.
Vinu stated that though the people were reluctant to take bath and cut hair and beard, they loved the makeover.
A.M.M.A also praised Vinu Mohan’s mission as an epitome of humanity.
“Mohanlal phoned me after the mobile bathroom mission made headlines. He expressed his happiness to me. Lalettan told me we must do our maximum to help the needy on the streets,” said Vinu Mohan.
