Mumbai: Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta, a prominent voice in the movement against workplace harassment, has once again sparked a conversation with a series of explosive revelations. In a recent podcast, the actress issued a stern warning to aspiring actors, urging them not to blindly trust those who promise "golden opportunities" in the film industry.

Tanushree pointed out that the path to exploitation often begins with excessive flattery. According to her, phrases like "You are so ambitious" or "You were born to be a heroine" are frequently used as bait to lure young girls into a cycle of manipulation.

"First, they will come and compliment you, then ask you to meet people. You have to take it slow.”

Drawing a powerful parallel to childhood safety, Tanushree noted that while parents teach children not to take chocolates from strangers, the "chocolates" in the film industry take a different form.

"Just as parents have asked us not to go with strangers if they give us chocolates. Follow the same thoughts when you are an adult. Here (film industry), the object is just different and not chocolate. Here, your ambitions, your hopes, and your dreams are used against you," she said.

She urged aspiring artists to maintain their dignity and never compromise their self-respect for a role. Her stance is firm: No opportunity is worth trading your soul.

The actress did not hold back when discussing the extreme consequences of this systemic exploitation. She alleged that many young men and women are "used brutally" and then discarded like waste.

The most shocking part of her revelation included human trafficking. Tanushree claimed, “Newcomers often get used, abused and thrown. Some are even pushed into prostitution after their film dreams are shattered. Others return home mentally broken.”

She noted that these tragic stories never reach the public eye because the film industry only celebrates success stories, burying the failures and victims.

Tanushree clarified that her reason for speaking out is purely to protect the next generation. "If my words can save even four lives, I consider it a great achievement," she stated. She reaffirmed her commitment to moving forward as an artist with her dignity intact, refusing to gamble her life for fame.
