Seoul: BTS kicked off their much-awaited ARIRANG world tour 2026 on April 9 at Goyang Stadium in Seoul, marking the group’s first full-member tour in several years. The opening concert, also streamed live worldwide via Weverse, quickly became one of the most talked-about global music events of the week.

While the show was praised for its large-scale production, complex choreography, and visually rich stage design, a viral clip from the live broadcast has now sparked an online debate around a brief performance moment involving members Jungkook, V, and Jin.

What sparked the controversy?

The clip, taken from the Weverse livestream, showed the trio performing the “Somebody like you-” segment from Body to Body. However, viewers online claimed there appeared to be a mismatch between Jin’s vocals and his microphone movement, leading to speculation about possible lip-syncing or use of pre-recorded vocals.

Social media users quickly weighed in, with one writing, “I would not mind the backtrack if they just played it and they danced but why are they acting like they are singing live?”

As the clip spread, some users questioned whether the performance relied heavily on backing tracks, especially in sections where choreography appeared lighter.

BTS fans, also known as ARMY, push back with a different explanation.

They were quick to defend the group, arguing that the viral moment was being misinterpreted due to streaming or editing issues rather than the live performance itself.

One fan explained, “The audio and video are not in sync try editing again b****”

Another added, “I could be wrong. But there are cases that there is a real time difference… there is a slight millisecond delay. On the real stage… he is already singing… but on the big screen it still not.”

Many ARMY members insisted the performance at the stadium was unaffected, suggesting that Weverse livestream lag may have created the illusion of poor synchronization.

Another fan commented, “Nice try with the edit … but yeah, this one didn’t quite hit—run it back lol.”

While another pointed out possible manipulation in the circulating clip, “Omg the editing is so bad.... at least do the editing perfectly to mislead people.”

A separate fan sharing a fancam video added, “Y'all are using illegal streaming video. Fancams are there.”

Technical glitch or real issue? Debate continues online

In a second version of the video shared online, viewers claimed the timing appeared normal, further fueling the argument that the viral clip may have been selectively edited.

One user concluded, “You can clearly see it was technical issues cuz the voice isn’t matching the movements. Weverse was lagging a bit and caused this. How stupid you can be to not see this ??”

As discussions continue across social media platforms, fans maintain that the controversy does not reflect what audiences experienced live at the venue, but rather how stream delays and edited clips can distort real-time performances.
