Finally happened! — BTS go full OT7 on livestream, confirm 2026 album, tour and live release

Global K-pop sensation BTS will return to the spotlight in spring 2026 with a new album and a world tour, the group announced during a livestream on Weverse, their official fan platform. This will be their first full group activity since 2022 and their first world tour in nearly four years.
“All seven of us will begin working together on new music starting this July,” BTS said in a statement. “It will be a group album that reflects each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching it with the same mindset we had when we first started.”
The announcement comes just weeks after RM, V, Jimin, and Jung Kook were discharged from South Korea’s military, fulfilling their national service duties. Jin, the eldest, completed his service in June 2024, while J-Hope followed in October. Suga completed his alternative service as a social service agent, a non-military option for those with health conditions or other considerations.
Military service and the law
In South Korea, military service is mandatory for all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28. BTS members had previously delayed enlistment under a 2020 amendment to the Military Service Act, which allowed K-pop artists to postpone until age 30 due to their global cultural influence.
Despite their contributions to South Korea’s soft power and global image, BTS members were not exempted, unlike athletes and classical musicians who win top awards and receive special dispensation.
Anticipation builds for comeback
This 2026 comeback is highly anticipated by the BTS ARMY, their massive global fanbase, and the K-pop industry alike. The last time all seven members were seen together live was in September 2022, making this reunion both emotional and momentous.
The upcoming album promises a return to the group’s creative roots, with a more collaborative approach reflecting each member’s growth during their time apart. The world tour, their first since pre-pandemic times, is expected to span major cities across Asia, North America, and Europe.
With the announcement, BTS is set to redefine the next chapter of their global legacy, blending their signature energy, heartfelt lyricism, and renewed unity. Further tour dates and album details are expected in the coming months.
