Braving rain, cinema-goers flock to theatre to watch special screening of ‘Manichitrathazhu’

Thiruvananthapuram: Cinegoers had no reluctance in lining up to watch their favourite Malayalam movie ‘Manichitrathazhu’ even after 30 years of its theatrical release. The psychological horror thriller directed by Fazil is considered one of the classics in Malayalam film history. Thousands flocked to the screening of the movie at Kairali theatre in Thiruvananthapuram, held as part of the film festival, organised in connection with the Keraleeyam 2023.

Braving the heavy rains, over a thousand people arrived at the cine complex, hours before the screening, forcing the organisers to chart multiple shows in the night. A few people did not even mind sitting on the floor to watch the epic blockbuster. It was a nostalgic ride as people watched their favourite characters unravel on the big screen after three decades.

The images of houseful shows of ‘Manichitrathazhu’ have been doing rounds on social media. Mohanlal fans were overjoyed by the response to the shows. Minister Saji Cherian posted pictures of the rush outside the theatre on the occasion. He noted that the overwhelming response is a testimony of the people’s unending love towards cinema.
