Kannur: What began as a fun dubbing hobby among college friends turned into a dream opportunity for Bhagya Suresh, a mathematics student at Thalassery Government Brennen College in Kerala. Out of the blue, she received a call to lend her voice to the heroine in Shane Nigam and Unni Sivalingam’s film ‘Balti’. Bhagya became the voice behind Kaveri, the character played by actress Preethi Asrani.

A native of Karivellur, Bhagya is now a final-year degree student at Brennen College. As ‘Balti’ and ‘Jaalakaari’ continue to receive praise in theatres and on social media, part of that recognition also shines on Bhagya for her voice work.

A passionate film enthusiast, Bhagya has always been fond of cinema. She is known among her friends for memorising movie dialogues and actively participating in drama, mono act, speech, and dance events at school arts festivals. Her journey into dubbing began when she started posting videos on Instagram, where she lent her voice to characters played by Aishwarya Rai and Trisha in ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. She also dubbed for Sai Pallavi in Amaran and portrayed three different characters from ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’.

These videos soon gained traction online. Impressed by her work, ‘Balti’ director Unni Sivalingam noticed her talent. Assistant director Vysakh and co-director Sabarinath reached out to her on Instagram, inviting her for auditions. From a group of about ten participants, Bhagya was chosen for the role.

She is the daughter of C.K.V. Suresh and Shylaja, and her sister’s name is Hridya Suresh.
