Asha Bhosle health update: Family confirms ‘extreme exhaustion, infection’, requests privacy

Mumbai:Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital following respiratory and cardiac complications. The 92-year-old is currently undergoing treatment.

Confirming the hospitalisation, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle shared a health update on social media, stating that Asha Bhosle was admitted due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.

“My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection, has been admitted to the hospital, and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing, and hopefully everything will be well, and we shall update you positively,” Zanai wrote.

Asha Bhosle hospitalisation: ICU care and medical monitoring

Hospital sources said Asha Bhosle was admitted to the ICU after complaining of respiratory distress and was described as “very critical” at the time of admission. She is being closely monitored by a team of doctors.

Following reports of the singer’s hospitalisation, fans and well-wishers shared messages of concern and prayed for her speedy recovery.

One of the most influential voices in Indian music, Asha Bhosle has shaped Bollywood playback singing for over eight decades. She has recorded thousands of songs across multiple Indian languages, spanning film music, private albums and live performances in India and abroad.

Her contributions to Indian music have been recognised with numerous honours, including two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards. She was also conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

In 2011, the Guinness World Records recognised her as the most-recorded artist in music history. Her career began in 1943, and she remains one of the most enduring figures in Indian cinema and music history.
