Alia Bhatt continued her fashion-forward run at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival with a striking appearance at the Bharat Pavilion’s inaugural event on 13 May, joining a distinguished Indian delegation celebrating the country’s cinematic achievements.

For the occasion, the actor wore a custom ivory silk saree-gown that blended traditional Indian draping with contemporary couture. The ensemble featured a structured corseted bodice with a plunging neckline — a silhouette she has favoured throughout her Cannes appearances this year — while the draped fabric over one shoulder echoed the fluidity of a saree pallu.

The look was elevated by intricate floral beadwork across the ivory silk, creating the effect of delicate vines climbing the fabric. The skirt extended into a sweeping train, adding theatrical elegance while maintaining the softness associated with traditional Indian attire.

The design marked a deliberate tribute to Bhatt’s heritage, incorporating classic saree elements into a modern gown silhouette without relying on conventional draping techniques. The fusion of a western corset with the timeless pallu reflected a broader Indo-western aesthetic that has defined her Cannes wardrobe this year.

Bhatt’s appearance at the Bharat Pavilion also completed what has emerged as a carefully curated fashion narrative during her time on the French Riviera. She first appeared in a sea-foam green couture creation by Yash Patil, featuring hand-painted Riviera landscapes inspired by the festival setting.

She later attended the opening ceremony in a bright coral column gown by Tamara Ralph, styled with a dramatic silk crepe train and a statement coral-and-diamond necklace.

Her latest appearance shifted the focus back towards Indian craftsmanship, reinforcing her position as a cultural ambassador on one of cinema’s biggest global stages.

Sharing a video of the look on Instagram on 13 May, Bhatt captioned the post: “Feeling unapologetically filmy…”
