Abhirami congratulates Suresh Gopi for Thrissur win; responds to criticism

Singer Abhirami Suresh has responded to criticisms following her support for BJP candidate Suresh Gopi, who won the Lok Sabha elections with a significant majority from Thrissur on Tuesday. The controversy arose after she posted on social media expressing her support for Gopi.
In the post, she wrote, “MY NEW LOOK SIR. The much deserved, the most historic, the perfectly earned WIN. SG for Trichur. And see, I’m not into Politics, but I love this human being and have known him fairly long enough to understand what good he has and will continue doing for the welfare of the people. People are his family, their good is his good. So this is lots of love and umma to our dear Uncle.”
Several social media users criticised her post. One user commented, “Thank you for openly expressing the politics inside, unfollowing...” In response, the singer clarified, “I’m not into politics, brother. I’ve been seeing him since my childhood; he’s family, and mixing everything up with politics is not always the right thing to do! I love that human; I see more human in him than in the politician. And this is for that human being who worked really hard for his win..that’s all. Please feel free to unfollow me or anyone when you feel so. Good day.”
Suresh Gopi won from the Thrissur constituency, and CPI's Sunilkumar emerged second when the results were announced on Tuesday. UDF candidate and Congress leader Muraleedharan had to settle for the third position. Suresh Gopi secured a substantial majority of 74,686 votes, marking the BJP's first win in the Lok Sabha elections in Kerala.
