Did Aamir Khan really call Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ a ‘big mistake’?

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s team has strongly refuted claims that the actor criticised Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster Coolie, in which he made a cameo appearance.
In recent days, a screenshot resembling a newspaper clipping went viral on social media. The fabricated report alleged that Aamir had called his role in Coolie “a big mistake,” further claiming he found the film “badly written” and questioned the purpose of his character. Responding to the controversy, Aamir’s spokesperson issued a clarification:
“Mr Aamir Khan has given no such interview and has made no negative comments about the film Coolie.” The statement also highlighted the film’s massive box office success, saying, “Mr Khan has the highest regard for Mr Rajinikanth, Mr Lokesh and the entire Coolie team. The film has grossed over ₹500 crore, which speaks for itself.”
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie released on August 14 and stars Rajinikanth in the lead, with Aamir playing a cameo as a gangster named Dahaa. The film also features Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Upendra and Soubin Shahir. Despite mixed reactions to Aamir’s role, the actor has previously said he joined the project simply for the opportunity to share screen space with Rajinikanth.
Currently, Coolie is streaming on Prime Video after its record-breaking theatrical run.
