Alappuzha: The KSRTC Budget Tourism Cell has transformed the holiday season into a time for leisure travel. This year too, it has organised a range of small and large trips at affordable rates. Preparations have been completed for tours scheduled for the last week of April and May.

Leisure trips are generating huge revenue for KSRTC. Pilgrimage tours are also being arranged for devotees. The allocation of a dedicated bus for budget tourism in the district has proved beneficial. KSRTC expanded its budget tourism project in 2021 with the aim to boost non-ticket revenue.

In search of cool destinations

Trips to cooler destinations are the most popular, with the Munnar–Vattavada route leading the list. Tours are also being conducted to Adavi, Gavi, Parunthumpara, Wayanad, Calvary Mount, Ashtamudi, Marayur, Silent Valley, Illickal Kallu, Ilaveezhapoonchira, Malakkappara, Mamalakandam, Chathurangappara, Anjuruli, Ponmudi, Ramakkalmedu, Nelliampathy, and Vagamon. Silver Storm Park and the Kochi Nefertiti cruise are also among the most popular packages. All trips are seeing strong bookings.

Along with devotees

Trips have been arranged to pilgrimage centres such as Guruvayur, Mookambika, and Velankanni. Chartered trips are also available to various temples in Thiruvananthapuram.

First Goa trip from Alappuzha departs today

Bookings are surging for the newly introduced Goa trip by the Budget Tourism Cell. The first Goa trip from the district will depart on Friday from the Mavelikkara depot. The first bus, carrying 38 passengers, will leave at 5 a.m.

Next month, Goa trips will be operated from five depots in the district. The tour spans three nights and two days. Passengers will travel by KSRTC buses up to Kasaragod, and from there to Goa in luxury AC buses.
