Rumors surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding are growing louder and so are the estimates of what the celebration could cost.

While neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed wedding plans, reports suggesting the couple could marry over the Fourth of July weekend at New York City's Madison Square Garden have sparked widespread discussion. If the speculation proves true, industry experts believe the celebration could carry a staggering price tag of up to $20 million, placing it in an entirely different league from the average American wedding.

Luxury wedding planner Sonal Shah recently estimated that simply securing Madison Square Garden for an exclusive weekend event could cost around $2.5 million. Once security, production, catering, décor, entertainment and staffing are factored in, she believes the overall budget could realistically climb into the $10 million to $20 million range.

The venue is one of the biggest reasons behind the eye-watering estimate. Renting out one of New York City's most recognisable arenas would mean paying for the venue's operations and security teams, and for the revenue lost from concerts or sporting events that would otherwise take place there.

Although the couple has remained silent, reports have added fuel to the speculation. New York City permits have reportedly been filed for temporary street closures around Madison Square Garden between July 2 and July 4, along with plans for an event accommodating several hundred guests. Officials have stressed that permits alone do not confirm the wedding, but they have become one of the biggest talking points among fans.

If the venue rumours are accurate, the arena could also offer privacy. Madison Square Garden's underground entrance would allow high-profile guests to arrive away from photographers and large crowds.

How does that compare to a typical wedding?

According to The Knot's latest Real Weddings Study, the average American wedding in 2025 cost around $34,000, while separate research from wedding platform Zola placed the national average at roughly $36,000.

That means a $20 million celebration would cost nearly 590 times more than the average US wedding. The studies also found that couples typically work with around 13 different vendors and spend approximately $292 per guest.

Even so, the rumoured budget would represent only a tiny fraction of Swift's wealth. As one of the world's wealthiest entertainers, a multi-million-dollar wedding would amount to well under one percent of her estimated fortune.

The rumours have even reached those close to Kelce. Comedian Druski, who recently spent time with the NFL star, said he was simply "ready for the wedding," though he admitted he didn't know where it would take place. His comments have only added to the growing anticipation surrounding what many fans are already calling one of the biggest celebrity weddings in recent memory.

For now, however, the biggest details, including the date, venue and budget, remain unconfirmed. Until Swift or Kelce publicly addresses the speculation, the reported $20 million price tag remains exactly that, an estimate attached to one of entertainment's most talked-about rumours.
