Where will world leaders stay during the BRICS Summit in Delhi?

As Delhi gets ready to host the BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13, some of the capital's best-known luxury hotels are preparing for a very high-profile guest list.

More than 3,000 hotel rooms have been booked across the city for BRICS delegates, representatives from partner nations and senior officials from around the world. The summit is also bringing a significant jump in hotel demand. At some luxury properties, nightly room rates have climbed beyond Rs 2 lakh.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is staying at ITC Maurya, according to sources. The luxury hotel is among the Delhi properties that have seen a sharp rise in demand in the run-up to the summit. Room rates at the hotel are currently going above Rs 2 lakh a night.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to arrive in Delhi tomorrow and is expected to stay at Taj Palace, New Delhi. The property is currently sold out, with all its rooms booked as the city prepares for the arrival of the Chinese delegation.

The Oberoi New Delhi gets four BRICS delegations

The Oberoi New Delhi on Dr Zakir Hussain Marg is set to host delegations representing four BRICS members and partner countries.

Guests from Brazil, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia and Indonesia are staying at the property.

The hotel is also preparing for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is expected to arrive at the property in the afternoon.

Taj Mahal Hotel hosts international officials

The Taj Mahal Hotel has a broad international guest list for the summit.

Delegations from Uruguay, the Philippines, Cuba, Belarus and Vietnam are staying at the hotel. The property is also hosting two senior global health and trade officials, the Director-General of the World Health Organization and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Le Méridien welcomes UN and development bank chiefs

At Le Méridien New Delhi, the list of guests includes several prominent international officials.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is staying at the hotel, along with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the President of the New Development Bank.

Delegations from Uganda, Nigeria and Malaysia are also represented at the property.

South Africa and Burundi at The LaLiT

Close to Connaught Place, The LaLiT New Delhi is accommodating delegations from South Africa and Burundi.

The property is hosting both African member and outreach delegations as representatives gather in the capital for the summit.

Shangri-La Eros sees suites sell out

Shangri-La Eros on Ashoka Road has been assigned to the delegation from the West Asian BRICS member state. Its suites are currently sold out, while room prices have risen to as much as Rs 60,000 a night.

Which BRICS members are attending the summit?

The BRICS grouping currently consists of 11 members: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The leaders and senior representatives expected at the summit include:

China: Xi Jinping, President

Russia: Vladimir Putin, President

South Africa: Cyril Ramaphosa, President

Iran: Masoud Pezeshkian, President

Egypt: Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President

Ethiopia: Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister

Indonesia: Prabowo Subianto, President

UAE: Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

Brazil: Mauro Vieira, Foreign Minister

Partner nations and outreach leaders also expected

The summit's guest list extends beyond the 11 BRICS members, with leaders from partner and outreach countries also expected to travel to Delhi.

Among those expected are Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Cuba President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Uganda Vice-President Jessica Alupo.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is also among the senior international figures attending the summit.

The gathering is expected to draw prominent figures from the business world as well. Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, and Gustavo Pimenta, CEO of Vale, are among the senior business leaders expected to attend.
