‘Lord’s of Manjoora’: The cricket field in Banasura Sagar reservoir

Kavumannam: This is not a cricket field, but a dried reservoir. Located in the Manjoora region, this field becomes visible only when the water from Banasura Sagar Dam recedes during the summer months. This green lawn, also called the 'Lord's Cricket Stadium of Manjoora', is adjacent to the Vythiri-Padinjarathara road.

During the months when the reservoir is full, the entire area is covered with water. However, as the summer months approach and the water recedes, the mud dries up, and the cricket pitch is ready.

The field has attracted social media attention, with many people coming to see the unique field that resembles Lord's Cricket Stadium in Britain. The field has also hosted a cricket tournament, the Thariode Premier League.

People who come to play cricket and visit the arena often share pictures on social media, adding to its popularity. One such picture was even shared on ESPN's Facebook page.
