Library Council to start home delivery of books; App to be launched

Thiruvananthapuram: The coronavirus oprevention lockdown did not spare libraries too. But book lovers and regular vistors to libraries need not be worried. The Library Council is planning to deliver books at households to survive the lockdown period and also is developing an app for the purpose.

State level office-bearers of the Council K V Kunjikkannan and P Appukuttan informed that people alientated at households can spend time by reading. They added that the books will be distributed strictly following the guidelines of health department so that virus transmission will not occur.

All 6500 libraries under the Council will be part of the coronavirus resistant task force. The committee convenor will supervise registration of libraries and young volunteers to the task force and will initiate sending of the names and details to the taluk council.

Earlier, the Library Council members had come forward to offer help during both flood havocs that devastated the states. Construction of two houses initiated by the Council is progressing in Malappuram.
