NEET UG 2026 registration closes in just 3 days: Apply before March 8 here

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon close the registration window for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026, the country’s largest medical entrance examination.
Candidates who wish to appear for the exam must complete the application process before March 8, 2026, through the official website.
The online application process began on February 8, 2026, and will remain open till 9 pm on March 8. The last date for successful fee payment through credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI is 11:50 pm on the same day.
Authorities have advised students not to wait until the final hours of registration, as heavy traffic on the website may lead to technical glitches or delays in submitting the form.
NEET UG 2026 exam date and pattern
The NEET UG 2026 exam will be held on May 3, 2026 (Sunday) from 2 pm to 5 pm in pen-and-paper mode. The exam will have a duration of three hours and will consist of multiple-choice questions.
The test will include questions from three subjects — Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). In total, candidates will have to answer 180 questions carrying a maximum of 720 marks.
Biology will have the highest weightage with 90 questions, while Physics and Chemistry will have 45 questions each.
NEET will be conducted in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, and Urdu, to ensure accessibility for students from different regions of the country.
Application fee and key dates
The application fee varies depending on the candidate’s category. For candidates belonging to the general category, the application fee is ₹1,700.
Those from the General-EWS and OBC-NCL categories need to pay ₹1,600. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, and third gender categories have to pay ₹1,000. For applicants from outside India, the examination fee is ₹9,500.
After the application window closes, candidates will get a correction facility from March 10 to March 12, during which they can edit certain details in their application forms.
The admit cards and city intimation slips will be released later on the official NTA website. The final results will also be announced on the same portal after the examination.
Steps to apply for NEET UG 2026
Candidates can complete the application process online by following a few simple steps. First, they must visit the official NEET website and click on the registration link available on the homepage.
After reading the instructions carefully, applicants need to agree to the declaration and proceed with the registration.
Next, candidates must fill in their personal and academic details, generate a password, and verify the registration using the OTP sent to their mobile number or email ID.
After logging in, applicants should complete the application form, upload the required documents such as photographs and signatures, and then proceed to pay the examination fee.
Once the payment is completed, candidates must download and save the confirmation page for future reference.
NTA has also advised students to use their Aadhaar card for identity verification to avoid the need for additional documentation during the application process.
Candidates must ensure that the details entered in the form, including their name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number, are accurate, as changes may not be allowed after submission except during the correction window.
NEET UG remains the single national entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical programmes, including MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS in medical institutions across India.
