IGFRI Jhansi announces Junior Research Fellow opportunity in guinea grass genetics

ICAR - Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Gwalior Road, Near Pahuj Dam, Jhansi -284 003, has notified a Walk-in-Interview for selection of one Junior Research Fellow on a temporary basis, for the Project, ‘Identification and characterisation of candidate genes related to polyploidy and/or apomixes in guinea grass (Megathyrsus maximum)’.
Essential qualification: Applicant should hold a Master’s degree in Agricultural Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology & Biotechnology/Biotechnology/ Lifesciences with 4/5 years of Bachelor's degree. Those with 3 3-year Bachelor's degree and a 2-year Master's degree should have NET/GATE qualification.
Desirable: PhD in any of the above disciplines and Research experience in plant molecular biology, gene cloning and tissue culture.
The maximum age limit will be 35 years for men and 40 years for women. Relaxation will be there in age for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates as per Government norms.
The position is purely temporary and will be filled on a contractual basis till 22.02.2027 or termination of the project, whichever is earlier.
Remuneration will be Rs. 37,000/- per month during the 1st and 2nd years and Rs. 42,000/- per month during the 3rd year. HRA will be admissible only if accommodation is not provided on the institute campus.

A walk-in Interview will be held at 11 am on 12.12.2025. Interviews of eligible candidates will be held at IGFRI, Jhansi, which is 10 km from Jhansi city. All eligible candidates are requested to be present 30 minutes before the scheduled time on the date of the interview for the necessary formalities.
Applicants must bring with them original documents for verification, along with four sets of complete bio-data with a self-attested photograph and self-attested enclosures such as mark sheets, proof of date of birth, certificates for qualification, experience, and a cast certificate for submission in the office at the time of the interview. The original certificates shall be produced for verification before the interview.
