Undergraduate admissions at Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has invited applications for admission to the Undergraduate Programmes offered at the institute for 2024-25.

The Programs are (i) B. Tech in Aerospace Engineering (ii) B. Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (Avionics) (iii) Dual Degree (B.Tech in Engineering Physics + Master of Science/ M.Tech in one of Master of Science in Astronomy and Astrophysics; Master of Science in Solid State Physics; M. Tech in Earth System Science and M. Tech in Optical Engineering.

Eligibility: Indian citizens and OCI/PIO card holders are eligible to apply. Those belonging to General, EWS and OBC-NCL categories must have been born on or after October 1, 1999. Those belonging to SC/ ST and PD categories must have been born on or after October 1, 1994.

Applicants must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in Class XII/ equivalent Board examination (65% aggregate for SC, ST and PD candidates). The marks scored in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, any subject other than the above four will be considered.

Applicant should have appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2024 conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), to qualify themselves to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) - 2024 conducted by IITs and should secure the minimum prescribed marks as follows in it: (i) General - At least 14% marks in aggregate and at least 3% marks in each of  Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (ii) EWS/ OBC-NCL- At least 12.6% marks in aggregate and at least 2.7% marks in each of the three subjects (iii) SC/ ST/ PD -At least 7% marks in aggregate and at least 1.5% marks in each of the three subjects. 

Minimum Marks Requirement in JEE (Advanced)–2024 Exam is as follows: (I) General – 3 marks each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 50 marks in aggregate (II) EWS/OBC-NCL- 3 marks in each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 45 marks in aggregate (iii) SC/ ST/ PD- 1 mark in each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 25 marks in aggregate.

Application: Application along with Branch Preferences can be submitted online at https://admission.iist.ac.in/ latest by 23:59 hrs on 14.06.2024. 

Registration Fee: Registration Fee is Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for Female candidates’ and SC/ ST/ PD candidates). The amount can be paid online.

The IIST Admission Rank List will be published at 17:00 Hrs on 15.6.2024. Modification of Branch Preferences can be made till 23:59 Hr on 16.6.2024. Seat Allotment/Acceptance rounds are tentatively scheduled to start on 17.6.2024 and continue up to 8.7.2024. Those allotted seats have to report for joining IIST at 10:00 Hrs on 22.7.2024.

Online Spot Admissions Notification, if required in case of vacancies will be released at 14:00 Hrs on 9.7.2024.  Online Spot Admissions Registration, if required (Applicable only for remaining wait-listed candidates after last round of seat allotment) will be from 09:00 Hrs on 10.7.2024, to 23:59 Hrs on 12.07.2024.

Online Spot Admissions, if required (Applicable only for remaining wait-listed candidates after last round of seat allotment) will be done from 12.7.2024 to 14.7.2024

Admission will be closed on 15.7.2024. 

Classes commence on 29.07.2024. The Induction Programme at IIST will be conducted during 22.7.2024 to 26.7.2024.
