PhD Admissions open at CDFD Hyderabad for August 2025: Here's how to apply
Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Inner Ring Road, Uppal, Hyderabad - 500 039, has invited applications for admission to PhD Program at the Centre beginning August 2025.
CDFD, Hyderabad, a research Institution under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India is engaged in research in several frontier areas of modern biology, including Cell & Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Disease Biology, Genetics, Molecular Microbiology, and Immunology. Keeping in view the interdisciplinary nature of modern biology, the Centre encourage persons from diverse backgrounds to apply. Those admitted as Ph.D. Scholars would be encouraged to register under the PhD program of Regional Centre for Biotechnology. The selection for PhD-II-2025 shall be based on interview conducted through online & in person mode.
Eligibility: Applicant must have (i) A Master’s degree in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture or MBBS from a recognized University / Institute. Those who have appeared for their final semester examination, but are awaiting results, are also eligible to apply.
Applicant should have qualified for a Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR / INSPIRE / UGC – RGNF or any other similar examination with fellowship. Those having qualified for Project – JRF under the ICMR funded project Scheme [which is only for a period of two years] OR DBT JRF NET with a B.Tech. [Biotechnology] degree OR DBT JRF NET under DBT – category - II list OR LSNET qualification only in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination are not eligible. A valid fellowship is an absolute requirement for pursuing PhD at CDFD. The fellowship must be valid till the time of joining in August 2025. Those awaiting their fellowship result can also apply but they should update the fellowship status positively before the interview, via email to rsp@cdfd.org.in as only those who submit proof of having a valid fellowship will be eligible for interview.
Selection: Admission will be based on ‘in person’ interview(s) which is scheduled to be held at CDFD in mid-June, 2025. Exact dates will be informed along with the list of candidates shortlisted for the interview(s). The candidates should be available for more than one round of interviews, spread over a week, if needed.
The list of candidates shortlisted for (i) first round of interviews will be displayed on the website in the second week of May, 2025 (ii) second round of interviews will be displayed on the website on the next day after the first round of interviews. After the interviews, applicants will be encouraged to contact CDFD faculty either in person or through email / phone to familiarize themselves with the research interests of the various faculty. A visit to CDFD laboratories and facilities including the hostel campus will also be arranged.

It is mandatory to upload soft copies of certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualifications, reservation category (if applicable), and fellowship examination qualified.
CDFD’s Ph.D. Program is a fully residential program. The selected candidates will have to stay on campus.
