'Appeared rectangular': Inside Pentagon unveiled fresh UFO records and military videos

The Pentagon has released a new batch of declassified UFO, or Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), records, including videos, documents and images featuring unexplained sightings. Among the most notable cases is a military pilot's account of an object with flight characteristics he described as unlike anything he had witnessed in nearly three decades of service.
The US Department of Defense on 10 July released its fourth tranche of declassified UAP files, adding 40 new records to a growing public archive. The release includes 14 documents, 19 videos, four audio recordings and three images from agencies including the Pentagon, NASA, the CIA, the FBI and the Department of Energy.
The files form part of a wider transparency initiative that has led to hundreds of previously classified records being made available to the public in recent months.
The pilot encounter drawing the most attention
One of the most discussed reports involves a 2019 sighting over the eastern United States by a military aviator and four other personnel. According to the debrief, the pilot observed a small object travelling at high speed in a straight line beneath the aircraft.
The aviator wrote that the object's flight characteristics were "unlike anything I had seen" during 28 years of service in the Air Force and Navy. After tracking it for several seconds and attempting to zoom in, the object moved out of view and could not be relocated. Later analysis suggested the object appeared rectangular, though those involved were unable to identify it.
Mystery near a nuclear weapons facility
Another file details an incident at the Pantex nuclear weapons facility in Texas in September 2015. According to the report, security personnel tracked a silent unidentified object that entered restricted airspace near the facility.
The object reportedly showed no visible propulsion system and prompted security measures at the site while personnel attempted to monitor its movements. The incident remains unexplained in the released documents.
Strange sightings near China
Some of the most recent records involve sightings in the Indo-Pacific region. Newly released videos show military sensors tracking unusual aerial objects over the Yellow Sea and East China Sea.
One video reportedly captured a six-pointed star-shaped object, while another tracked an unidentified object for several minutes. Additional footage appears to show an object interfering with electro-optical and infrared sensor systems. The files do not provide definitive explanations for the sightings.
No proof of alien life
Despite renewed public interest, the newly released documents do not provide evidence of extraterrestrial life. The objects remain categorised as unidentified because investigators have not yet determined their origin or nature.
US authorities continue to treat many UAP reports as potential aviation safety or national security matters, while analysts work to determine whether sightings can be explained by known technology, atmospheric phenomena or other causes.
The latest disclosure highlights the US government's growing willingness to make previously classified UAP records public. While the files contain several unusual accounts and videos, they leave many questions unanswered, ensuring that interest in UFO investigations remains as strong as ever.
