Satellite support? Redmi Note 15 Pro+ could be brand's first with unique feature

Redmi is set to introduce satellite connectivity to its smartphone lineup for the first time with the upcoming Note 15 Pro+, marking a major step for the brand’s mid-range segment. Traditionally reserved for high-end flagships, the feature will now be available at a more accessible price point, potentially redefining expectations for budget-conscious consumers.
The Chinese-market version of the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, a 1.5K resolution display with slim, symmetrical bezels, and a dual 50 MP camera system. A standout upgrade comes in the form of a significantly larger battery, reportedly ranging between 7,000 mAh and 7,999 mAh.
Interestingly, Redmi chose to debut satellite connectivity with its popular Note series rather than the premium K series, possibly leveraging the Note’s strong sales to maximise impact.
However, it's unclear whether the feature will be included in international models when they launch.
Satellite connectivity
Satellite connectivity has become one of the most talked-about features in smartphones, following Apple’s introduction of the technology with the iPhone 14 in 2022. The feature allows users to contact emergency services via SOS messages when they’re outside the range of cellular networks.
Since Apple’s rollout, other major tech companies, including Google and Samsung, have begun integrating similar capabilities into select devices. However, satellite communication remains a niche feature, currently limited to specific regions and a small number of smartphone models.
