Realme has officially expanded its popular number series in India with the launch of the Realme 16 Pro and the Realme 16 Pro Plus, strengthening its presence in the competitive upper mid-range smartphone segment.

With prices starting at Rs 31,999 and stretching up to Rs 44,999, the new lineup largely sticks to familiar territory, offering incremental yet meaningful upgrades without aggressive price inflation.

The Realme 16 Pro Plus sits at the top of the lineup and is positioned as a performance- and camera-centric offering. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, a proven processor designed to deliver smooth everyday performance and efficient multitasking.

A major highlight is its massive 7,000mAh battery, paired with 80W fast charging, which Realme claims can comfortably handle heavy daily usage with minimal downtime.

Camera hardware is where the Pro Plus truly stands out. The smartphone features a 200-megapixel primary camera, accompanied by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.

With an optical zoom of around 3.5x, the periscope setup promises sharper long-range shots than most phones in this price segment. This camera configuration positions the Pro Plus as a compelling choice for photography enthusiasts who don’t want to jump to flagship pricing.

On the front, the Realme 16 Pro Plus sports a curved AMOLED display with peak brightness reaching up to 6,500 nits. It comes with ultra-slim 1.48mm bezels, a high 2,500Hz touch sampling rate, and Netflix HDR support.

Realme has also doubled down on durability, equipping the device with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications, making it one of the most rugged smartphones on paper in its category.

The standard Realme 16 Pro, meanwhile, focuses on offering a well-rounded experience at a lower price point. It also features a 200-megapixel main camera with 4K HDR video recording support. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max chipset, which Realme says has been optimised for better efficiency and sustained performance.

Despite being the more affordable model, the Realme 16 Pro matches the Pro Plus in several key areas. It packs the same 7,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging and offers an AMOLED display capable of hitting up to 6,500 nits of brightness. Durability remains a shared strength, with identical IP ratings across both devices. An added highlight on the Pro model is a 300 percent ultra-volume mode aimed at users who frequently rely on loudspeaker audio.

Both smartphones share a similar design language, featuring a square-shaped triple rear camera module, an aerospace-grade frame, and right-aligned buttons. The displays are full-HD+ AMOLED panels, with the Pro variant offering a 1.5K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and support for 1.07 billion colours. The Pro Plus further enhances the viewing experience with slimmer bezels and advanced dimming technology.

On the software front, both phones run Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. Realme has promised three major Android updates and four years of security patches. Performance features such as LPDDR5x RAM and advanced cooling systems are also part of the package.
