PUBG update 39.1 goes live for PC with frozen Erangel and major gameplay changes

PUBG Update 39.1 is officially going live for PC players today, bringing one of the biggest seasonal shifts the game has seen. Console players will receive the update next week, but PC users will get first access to the new content, environmental changes, and weapon rebalancing.

Erangel Subzero transforms the classic map

The standout addition in PUBG Update 39.1 is Erangel Subzero, where large sections of the iconic map are now frozen and blanketed in snow.

This dramatic climate shift was caused by mysterious satellite crashes, and players will now find these satellites scattered across Erangel — several of them containing high-value loot for those willing to take the risk.

The update also introduces a freezing effect inside the Blue Zone, turning survival into a tougher challenge. Players can trigger freezing themselves using the new BZ Grenades and BZ Grenade Launcher, creating new combat strategies.

As part of the environmental overhaul, Ferries and the Red Zone have been temporarily disabled.

Gunplay updates: Buffs, nerfs & sound adjustments

PUBG Update 39.1 delivers significant gunplay tuning:

SKS, SLR, M416- Recoil reduction buffs

AUG, VSS- Recoil nerfed

VSS- Firing sound increased

TDM- Care package loot refreshed

IBR- Recall system added

The update also brings back UGC Alpha with fresh content for creators and players.

Gameplay & progression improvements

Casual Mode has been rebalanced with a new limit:

60 minutes per day, replacing the previous 3-match limit.

The Survivor Pass receives several upgrades in PUBG Update 39.1, including:

A new 50% BP boost as a Premium reward
