200MP camera, 6,000mAh battery, 165Hz AMOLED: Motorola Signature 27 unveiled

Motorola has unveiled the Motorola Signature 27, its latest ultra-premium smartphone, at the Snapdragon Summit, showcasing Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform along with AI-focused features, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a 6,000mAh battery.

The Signature 27 is the second-generation device in Motorola’s Signature family and introduces a new naming system based on the final two digits of the upcoming year. The company said the new naming structure will be used consistently across future generations.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 powers Motorola’s new flagship

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, which Motorola says is designed to deliver improved on-device AI capabilities, camera performance, gaming responsiveness and connectivity.

The device uses six antennas to support faster connectivity for cloud-based AI applications and other online tasks. The phone is also equipped with Motorola’s ArcticMesh cooling system, which combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh and a redesigned 3D vapour chamber.

According to Motorola, the new cooling system is 40 per cent larger than that of the previous generation and is designed to maintain performance during sustained AI workloads, gaming and video recording. The company is also promising seven years of OS upgrades.

The phone is listed with Android 17 and support for up to seven major OS updates. It uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset based on a 2nm process and comes with an Adreno GPU. Storage options include 256GB with 12GB RAM, 512GB with 12GB or 16GB RAM, and 1TB with 16GB RAM.

Gemini AI features built into Signature 27

Motorola has also integrated Google Gemini into the device, allowing users to move from prompts and questions to tasks such as planning, booking and content creation.

The company says Gemini Omni can turn prompts, photographs or existing footage into polished videos, while Google’s Lyria can be used to generate original music and customised soundtracks.

200MP periscope camera

Photography is another major focus of the Signature 27. The phone features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

The triple-camera setup also includes a 50MP ultrawide camera. The main camera and telephoto camera feature OIS, while the phone supports video recording up to 8K at 30fps, along with 4K recording at up to 120fps.

Motorola’s Video Enhancement Engine uses AI to adjust colour tones in real time by analysing scenes before and during recording. The company says this is designed to improve footage in challenging conditions such as concerts, low-light environments and sunset scenes.

The camera system also combines Qualcomm Technologies’ image stabilisation technology with the phone’s 3.5-degree OIS hardware for smoother handheld recording.

First Motorola phone with B&O audio

The Signature 27 is also Motorola’s first smartphone to feature Sound by Bang & Olufsen, following the companies’ multi-year partnership.

The device features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, along with support for 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res and Hi-Res Wireless audio.

6.8-inch 165Hz display, 6,000mAh battery

The smartphone features a 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support. It has a 1264 x 2780-pixel resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The device has a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon lithium-ion battery and supports 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, 10W reverse wireless charging and 5W reverse wired charging.

The phone has a glass front with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an aluminium frame. It carries IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance and is listed as MIL-STD-810H compliant, although Motorola notes that this does not guarantee ruggedness or use in extreme conditions.

Motorola will offer the Signature 27 in two finishes: PANTONE Coal Smoke in Tactical Weave and PANTONE Capulet Olive in a brushed textile-inspired finish.

The phone features an aluminium silhouette with contoured edges, along with a camera housing combining ceramic and brushed aluminium.

Motorola said the Signature 27 is expected to launch in markets worldwide in 2026, with further details to be announced closer to availability. The device was announced on September 22, 2026, and is currently listed as coming soon with an expected fourth-quarter 2026 release.
