Thiruvananthapuram: Government departments in Kerala are turning to artificial intelligence to tackle administrative challenges, with students, researchers and startups invited to contribute innovative solutions.

The Kerala Startup Mission and Kerala IT Mission have jointly launched the 'K-AI Initiative: AI for Governance’ programme, aimed at delivering public services more efficiently. The programme seeks to bring together government institutions, technology innovators, startups, researchers and the public to apply AI for the common good.

Departments including Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture, Law, Education and Social Welfare have expressed interest in adopting AI-driven solutions. Officials say applications could include early detection of infectious diseases, AI-assisted medical diagnosis, epidemic forecasting, agricultural data analysis, legal case management, reducing school dropout rates, and predicting natural hazards such as floods and landslides.
