Free Apple Music: Airtel extends partnership to prepaid users

New Delhi: In a major boost to its digital content offerings, Bharti Airtel is extending its partnership with Apple to bring Apple Music streaming services to its prepaid customers across India. Previously limited to postpaid and broadband users, Airtel’s latest move will now allow eligible prepaid subscribers to enjoy up to six months of free access to Apple Music.
Apple Music boasts a vast library of over 100 million songs, including lossless and spatial audio options, curated playlists, live radio, and features such as Apple Music Sing for karaoke-style lyrics, all delivered without ads. After the complimentary six-month period ends, the subscription will renew automatically at a monthly price of ₹119.
Eligible Airtel prepaid users will be able to activate the offer through the Airtel Thanks app, where personalised Apple Music banners have begun appearing. While specific eligibility details have not been formally announced, initial reports indicate that the benefit may be accessible even to users on non-unlimited 5G recharge plans, though customers are advised to verify availability on their accounts.
This development positions Airtel as the first major telecom operator in India to offer Apple Music benefits to its prepaid user base. Over recent months, Airtel has ramped up its bundled offerings, incorporating partnerships for services like Apple TV+, Perplexity AI Pro, Netflix, and Disney+ Hotstar across both prepaid and postpaid segments.
The move comes amid an intensifying battle among Indian telecom providers to attract and retain subscribers by enriching digital content and streaming options as part of their service packages, making Airtel's latest offer a notable step in this competitive landscape.
Customers interested in availing themselves of the free Apple Music subscription can check their eligibility and activation process on the Airtel Thanks app.
