Cyberpunk 2077 sequel release date: Project Orion projected for late 2030

The highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is projected to launch in late 2030, according to a comprehensive financial forecast released by Polish brokerage house Noble Securities.

The report suggests that the project, codenamed "Project Orion, " is targeting a release in the fourth quarter of 2030. This timeline would see the sequel arrive exactly a decade after the original game’s December 2020 debut.

Analysts estimate the development budget for Cyberpunk 2 at approximately PLN 1.5 billion ($416 million USD). This massive investment mirrors the scale of the upcoming The Witcher 4, signalling CD Projekt Red’s (CDPR) intent to produce another high-budget, "next-gen" blockbuster for high-end PCs and future consoles.

While the game entered pre-production in May 2025, it remains in the early stages of development. CDPR’s Boston studio currently houses about 80 developers dedicated to the project, a team size expected to double over the next two years as the studio ramps up efforts.

The report also outlined a busy roadmap for the developer leading up to 2030:

• The Witcher 4: Rumoured for a Q4 2027 release.
• Witcher Spin-offs: A remake of the original The Witcher and a multiplayer project, Sirius, are both estimated for 2028.
• Surprise Content: In an unconfirmed claim, Noble Securities suggested a third major expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could arrive in May 2026 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Blood and Wine DLC.

CDPR joint CEO Michał Nowakowski recently cautioned that Cyberpunk 2 is "still way in the beginning of development." While the 2030 date serves as a professional estimate, the studio has promised clearer updates once the project moves into full-scale production.
