Wayanad girls dominate U-19 Kerala team for inter-state cricket tournament

Krishnagiri: Five girls from Wayanad are selected to the state cricket team for the under-19 Inter-State Cricket Tournament. VJ Joshitha from Kalpetta, Shreya Roy from Panamaram, MP Aleena and Aleena Shibu from Ellumandam and Nithya Lourde from Pilakavu were selected based on their performance in the Under-16 Kerala match.

Interestingly, they are belonging to the Kerala Cricket Association's Krishnagiri Girls Cricket Academy. 

The players are currently studying at Meenangadi GVHSS. They are being trained under coach Justin Fernandes and coach Deepti.

The Under-19 tournament will be held in Visakhapatnam later this month. The pre-match training for the tournament will commence this month at the Krishnagiri Stadium. The team will be under the guidance of state coach O Rajagopal and Anu Ashok during the training period. 

Interestingly, the majority of the players selected for the Kerala team are from Wayanad. 

The selection trials of the Kerala women's senior team for the inter-state senior cricket matches will be also held in Krishnagiri soon.
