Sreejesh named brand ambassador for Kerala State School Sports Meet; Registrations thro mobile app

Kochi: Olympic medalist and hockey star P.R. Sreejesh has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the upcoming Kerala State School Sports Meet. The announcement was made by Education Minister V. Sivankutty, who also revealed that the opening ceremony will take place at the Maharajas College Ground on November 4. This marks a change from the previously scheduled venue, the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kaloor, due to technical reasons.
The festival will feature a grand cultural programme involving around 3,000 children at the Maharajas College grounds, with the major highlight being the participation of over 2,000 differently-abled children for the first time in the event’s history. Minister Sivankutty noted that approximately 24,000 children will compete across 17 venues.
Promotional rallies for the sports meet will depart from Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram, arriving in Kochi on the evening of November 3. A network system will be established to connect the 17 competition venues. The closing ceremony is scheduled for November 11 at the Maharajas College grounds, where Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the trophy.
Extensive preparations and live results
Preparations are underway for the upcoming State School Sports Meet, which will include various games and sports. Registration for participants will be conducted through a mobile app specifically designed for this purpose. For the first time in the festival's history, competition results will be announced live across all venues simultaneously, displayed on digital screens at each location.
Teachers and officials will have access to the competition schedules, results, and point standings from all venues. With events such as games, athletics, and aquatics being held concurrently, multiple competitions will take place across 17 stadiums. On the opening day, November 4, 18 registration counters will be available for participants, and there will also be options for on-site registration at the venues. For athletics, 14 counters will be set up, while seven counters will cater to swimming.
Participants can scan the QR code from their eligibility certificate provided by their schools to access their biodata on the venue's computer system. Registration will be open every day from 7 AM until just before the last event starts at the athletics and swimming venues.
Competition results will be updated in real-time on the website sports.kite.kerala.gov.in, and all historical records have been digitally archived.
Lack of National Records at State Sports Meet
Despite the grand scale of the event, there have been no national record performances at the State School Sports Meet for the past five years. The School Games Federation of India (SGFI) is responsible for providing the annual national record statistics to the states, but these figures have not been made available for the last five years. Consequently, even if there are performances that surpass national records during the state sports festival, they cannot be officially recognised or documented.
