Palakkad continues to dominate at Kerala State School Sports Meet

Thrissur: Palakkad continued its dominance in the Kerala State School Sports Meet. The district remained on top of the table with 117 points. Malappuram district stands second with 81 points followed by Ernakulam district with 51 points.

In the school level, Kadakassery Ideal EHSS school in Malappuram tops the list with 36 points, closely followed by Kothamangalam Mar Basil (28 points) and Palakkad Kalladi (24 points).

Bijoy and Nithya, students of Palakkad Chittoor GHSS and Ernakulam Mar Basil respectively, clinched two golds each. After winning gold in the 3,000 metres race, the duo repeated their achievements in their 1,500 metre races as well.

A new record was broken at the meet in shotput on Thursday. Three records have been rewritten so far at the meet. A record gold (16.15 metres) was won by Anupriya in senior girl’s shot put. In the process, she beat the previous record set by Megha Mariam Mathew (14.91 metres) in 2018.
