Legendary athlete PT Usha's son Ujjwal steps onto the track of married life

Payyoli: Vignesh V Ujjwal, the only son of India’s pride and legendary athlete P T Usha, is getting married. The bride is Krishna, daughter of Ashok Kumar and Shiny of ‘Sreeram Krishna’ in Vyttila of Kochi. The wedding will take place on Monday at Le Méridien, Kochi, between 11 am and 12 pm.

P T Usha was already a national icon when Ujjwal was born. Just seven months after his birth, she resumed her athletic training.

Having closely witnessed his mother's relentless efforts to nurture sporting talent, Ujjwal went on to study Sports Medicine and now works as a doctor at the Usha School of Athletics — the institution founded by Usha herself.

Despite Usha earning numerous titles and honours over the years, Ujjwal has never sought the limelight of his mother’s fame. “I never forced him into anything,” said Usha, recalling his quiet independence.

As Ujjwal steps into a new chapter of life, he reflects that while he may not have become a sportsperson, the fighting spirit his mother instilled in him has always stayed close to his heart — just like her supportive hand in his.
