Kerala dominates taekwondo with gold and several bronze medals at National Games

Haldwani: Kerala continued its strong performance at the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand on Saturday. Margaret Maria Reji clinched a gold medal in the women’s taekwondo (67 kg category), adding to the state’s growing medal tally.

Seven bronze medals for Kerala

Alongside the gold, Kerala also secured seven bronze medals across various events, further enhancing its standing in the competition.

Athletics and taekwondo medalists shine

On the first day of athletics events, Kerala’s C.V. Anurag bagged a bronze in the men’s long jump, marking the state's first medal in the athletics segment. Other notable achievements included Maria Johnson’s bronze in the women’s pole vault and Alex P. Thankachan’s bronze in the men’s discus throw.

In taekwondo, Kerala continued to excel, with B. Sreejith (under 63 kg), Manu George (80 kg), and Shivangi Chanambam (under 53 kg) winning bronze medals in their respective categories. Additionally, the Kerala taekwondo team secured a bronze in the group category.
