India’s athletics legend and Rajya Sabha member PT Usha and V Sreenivasan’s son Dr Vignesh Ujjwal, tied the knot recently — and among the many distinguished guests was world boxing champion Mary Kom, who arrived in true Kerala style to attend the celebrations.

Mary Kom turned heads in a golden silk saree, paired elegantly with matching gold jewellery. She completed her traditional Kerala look with mullappoo (jasmine flowers) adorning her hair.

Sharing her love for Kerala cuisine, Mary Kom said she enjoys vada, sambar, idli and rice. When asked if eating rice was good for fitness, she smiled and replied, "As long as it’s not too much, it’s fine."

The wedding festivities took place at Le Meridien Hotel, Kochi. The bride, Krishna, is the daughter of Ashok Kumar and Shiny, residents of Sreeram Krishna, Chelliyanthara, Vyttila. The event was graced by several eminent personalities from the worlds of sports, politics and cinema.

The groom, Dr Vignesh Ujjwal, who studied sports medicine, currently serves as a doctor at the PT Usha School of Athletics.
