Kolkata :- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakravarthy reached a major milestone on Wednesday, completing 100 wickets in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career.

The achievement came during KKR’s clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Leading the bowling attack, Chakravarthy delivered an impressive four-over spell, conceding just 18 runs and picking up two wickets — those of Ravindra Jadeja and the in-form Dewald Brevis — as KKR defended a target of 180 runs, albeit unsuccessfully.

Chakravarthy has now taken 100 wickets in 83 IPL matches, with an average of 23.31 and an economy rate of 7.47. His best figures stand at 5/20. His tally includes one wicket for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in his lone appearance for the franchise back in 2019. For KKR, he has claimed 99 wickets in 82 matches at an average of 23.19, making him the franchise’s third-highest wicket-taker, behind Andre Russell (124) and Sunil Narine (208), two of KKR’s most iconic players.

With this milestone, Chakravarthy has become the joint-fastest spinner to reach 100 IPL wickets, sharing the record with India’s Amit Mishra and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, all achieving the feat in 83 innings. He surpassed Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who reached the mark in 84 innings.

In the current season, Chakravarthy is KKR’s leading wicket-taker and ranks fifth overall, with 17 wickets in 12 matches. He has averaged 19.35 and maintained an economy rate of 7, with best figures of 3/22.
