Shubman Gill ruled out of South Africa T20Is due to toe injury; Sanju Samson likely to open

Lucknow: India vice-captain Shubman Gill, struggling for form, has been ruled out of the remaining two T20Is against South Africa due to a toe injury, team sources said.

Gill is understood to have picked up the injury during a training session, with the support staff taking all precautionary steps to facilitate his swift recovery.

Sanju Samson is expected to move up and open the innings in Gill's absence.

The match was abandoned due to excessive fog.
