Rashid Khan narrowly avoids serious head injury in Sharjah ODI | VIDEO

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan narrowly avoided a potentially serious head injury during the third and deciding ODI against Bangladesh at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday.
While chasing a ball to stop a single, Rashid slid into the ground, and wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz also made an attempt to reach the ball. As Gurbaz leapt over the sliding Rashid to avoid a collision, his right knee, heavily padded, grazed Rashid’s head before his boot fortunately prevented further contact. In the video footage, Gurbaz can be seen carefully jumping over Rashid, but the close call sent a scare through the field.
In the match, Bangladesh’s seasoned campaigner Mahmudullah played a key role in guiding his side to a competitive total of 244/8. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh’s chances appeared slim as they slipped to 72/4, struggling against Afghanistan’s bowlers. However, Mahmudullah stepped up with a brilliant knock of 98, supported by stand-in captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who contributed a vital 66.
Although Mahmudullah was run out for 98 on the final ball, his performance, which included seven boundaries and three sixes, was instrumental in stabilizing the innings and setting a competitive target for Afghanistan. With the series tied at 1-1, this match was crucial for both sides in their bid for victory.
