Pratika Rawal becomes joint fastest to 1,000 runs in Women’s ODIs, sets new Indian record

India’s star opener Pratika Rawal has made history by becoming the joint fastest batter to score 1,000 runs in Women’s One Day Internationals (ODIs), matching the record previously held by former Australian player Lindsay Reeler.
Rawal, who needed just 12 runs to reach the milestone, also broke the record for the fastest Indian to achieve 1,000 runs in this format, surpassing Deepti Sharma.
During India’s last group stage match against England, Rawal scored 18 runs and came close to breaking Reeler’s record of 23 innings, needing only 22 innings to surpass it. However, she was dismissed after scoring six runs off 14 balls while attempting to play a short and wide delivery.
Rawal reached the milestone in just 304 days since her debut in December last year, becoming the fastest ever batter to reach 1,000 runs in Women’s ODIs. This remarkable feat also eclipsed the previous record held by Laura Wolvaardt, who achieved 1,000 runs in 734 days between February 2016 and February 2018.
Additionally, Rawal surpassed former England head coach Charlotte Edwards’ record as the fastest to 500 runs in Women’s ODI cricket. She had reached 500 runs in her eighth innings after scoring 78 off 91 balls against South Africa during the tri-nation series in Sri Lanka, setting a new benchmark in the process.
Pratika Rawal’s rapid rise highlights her exceptional talent and cements her status as one of the brightest stars in women’s cricket.
