IPL 2026 Orange Cap standings: Kohli surpasses Abhishek Sharma to top run-scorers

Bengaluru: Virat Kohli reclaimed a familiar position at the summit of the run-scoring charts after anchoring a high-stakes pursuit for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, while the league’s bowling leaderboard remains tightly contested following Saturday’s action.
During RCB’s successful chase of a 206-run target, Kohli opened the innings and scored 81 runs off 44 deliveries. Bating into the 14th over, his performance secured the Player-of-the-Match award and elevated him to the top of the Orange Cap standings. With a total of 328 runs through seven innings, Kohli holds a narrow five-run advantage over Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma.

- Heinrich Klaasen (SRH): Holds the third position with 320 runs.
- Shubman Gill (GT): Moved into fourth place after scoring 32 against RCB, bringing his season total to 297.
- Sanju Samson (CSK): Dropped to fifth following Gill’s ascent.
- Rajat Patidar (RCB): The Bengaluru captain remains in the eighth spot with 238 runs despite a low score of 8.
- Ishan Kishan (SRH): Sits in ninth, level on runs with Patidar but trailing due to strike-rate differentials.
- B Sai Sudharsan (GT): Entered the tenth spot after recording the season’s fifth century, a 100-run effort off 58 balls.
Purple Cap Standings
The contest for the league’s leading wicket-taker remains stagnant at the very top, as only eight wickets fell during the RCB-GT matchup.
Gujarat’s Prasidh Krishna failed to record a dismissal, leaving him in a tie for third place with Sunrisers’ Eshan Malinga at 12 wickets. The pair trails the leading duo of Anshul Kamboj (CSK) and Prince Yadav (LSG) at 14 wickets each.
Further down the list, Bhuvneshwar Kumar moved into a tie for fifth place. His dismissal of Jos Buttler brought his season total to 11 wickets, aligning him with the Rajasthan Royals pairing of Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi.
