India-Sri Lanka ODI moves to Vizag, DDCA's request triggers venue change

The India-Sri Lanka ODI series will begin at a different venue than planned, with the first match on December 13 moving from Delhi to Visakhapatnam.
The decision to move the opening encounter follows a request from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), which flagged concerns over potential weather disruptions and proposed renovation work at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Delhi was initially scheduled to host the first ODI of the series. However, developments at the stadium and the possibility of weather-related interruptions prompted a rethink of the venue.
Visakhapatnam will now host the opening fixture, bringing the coastal city into focus as India and Sri Lanka prepare to renew their rivalry in the 50-over format.
The venue change also means Delhi will miss hosting the series opener, with the BCCI opting for the shift to avoid complications from the proposed work and weather conditions.
The December 13 fixture will mark the beginning of India's ODI assignment against Sri Lanka, with the revised venue adding a fresh dimension to the series build-up.
