India's strong total was the partnerships forged by the batsmen. The stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill laid a solid foundation for the team later on carried forward by Gill and Pant, adding runs at a steady rate and giving India a strong platform to build upon.

Despite the strong Indian batting performance, England's bowlers put in a commendable effort. Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue both took 4 wickets each, with Stokes conceding 66 runs and Tongue giving away 79 runs. Tongue also managed to dismiss Rishabh Pant who was looking dangerous.
