Shubman Gill’s 86 powers Gujarat Titans to 5-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets in a closely fought IPL 2026 encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, successfully chasing a target of 181 with just a few balls to spare. The win came after a strong batting effort led by captain Shubman Gill.
KKR post 180 after early collapse
Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out for 180 in 20 overs after a shaky start. They were reduced to 32 for 3 inside the powerplay before Cameron Green steadied the innings with a well-made 79 off 55 balls. He built key partnerships with Rovman Powell and Anukul Roy to push KKR to a competitive total.
Gujarat Titans’ pace attack dominated the early phase of the innings. Kagiso Rabada picked up 3 wickets for 29 runs, while Mohammed Siraj claimed 2 for 23, dismantling KKR’s top order and putting them under immediate pressure.
In reply, Gujarat Titans were given a strong start but lost wickets in the middle overs. Shubman Gill held the innings together with a composed yet aggressive 86 off 50 balls, ensuring the chase stayed on track despite breakthroughs from KKR bowlers.
Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar also chipped in with useful runs during the chase. Even as KKR tried to claw back through Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, GT maintained control and stayed ahead of the required rate.
The match went down to the final overs, but Gujarat Titans managed to cross the line with 5 wickets in hand, sealing their victory and continuing their strong run in the tournament.
