Just weeks before the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025, fantasy sports giant Dream11 has reportedly decided to pull out as the lead sponsor of the Indian cricket team. The decision comes in the wake of the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025’, recently passed by the Indian Parliament. This legislation bans real-money gaming platforms, directly impacting companies like Dream11.

While neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nor Dream11 has made an official announcement, NDTV sources close to the matter confirm that the sponsorship deal is unlikely to continue. The BCCI is now expected to invite fresh bids for jersey sponsorship rights ahead of the Asia Cup.

What happens to the already printed jerseys?

Interestingly, Team India’s jerseys for the Asia Cup, already printed with the Dream11 logo, will not be used in the tournament. If the BCCI is unable to finalise a new sponsor in time, India may play the Asia Cup without a lead sponsor on their kit, a rare scenario in recent times.

What was Dream11’s original deal with BCCI?

Dream11 had entered into a sponsorship agreement with the BCCI in 2023, valued at ₹358 crore. Under this deal, the company paid ₹3 crore per home match and ₹1 crore per away game.

When and where is the Asia Cup 2025 taking place? Who is the team India captain?

The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to be held from September 9 to 28, with all matches taking place across Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

India has announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, along with five reserve players. Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain, while Shubman Gill will serve as his vice captain.
