The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly warned Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh to stop filming behind-the-scenes IPL vlogs after a video allegedly showing teammate Yuzvendra Chahal vaping during a team flight sparked controversy online.

According to an NDTV report, the issue surfaced after clips from Arshdeep’s travel vlog went viral on social media. The footage appeared to show Chahal concealing something under his palm before making a vaping gesture, with a small puff of smoke visible in the video. The original vlog uploaded on Arshdeep’s YouTube channel reportedly included the full sequence, but the clip has since been edited after gaining traction online.

So far, neither the BCCI nor Punjab Kings has issued an official statement on the matter.

The latest controversy emerged just hours after the BCCI circulated a fresh eight-page directive to all 10 IPL franchises, introducing stricter operational and security rules for players and team staff. The board’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) reportedly raised concerns over player conduct, security protocols and content shared publicly during the tournament.

The new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) warn franchises and players that surprise checks and stricter compliance measures will now be enforced to safeguard the integrity and security of the IPL. The guidelines come amid growing concerns over off-field activities, player movement and social media content during the season.

Earlier IPL vaping controversy:

This is the second vaping-related controversy to hit the IPL this season. Earlier, Riyan Parag, captain of Rajasthan Royals, was accused of vaping inside the dressing room during a match against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh.

Vaping is banned in India, and Parag was later fined 25 percent of his match fee. He also received one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials.
