Handicraft exhibitions and sales rejuvenate markets during the festival seasons in the state. Kannur police stadium has risen to a festive tenor with the launch of an expo here.

The handicraft expo has been organised in Kannur under the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, state handicraft directorate and district industries centre. A long array of items from towels to furniture are being sold at the expo, which will be live till September 7.

Attractive discounts are the major factor that allure the customers to such expos. A discount of 20 per cent can be obtained while purchasing the products of various cooperative societies. A daily lucky draw will bestow handicraft textiles worth Rs 1000 for three persons. A photo contest has also been arranged to gift clothes worth Rs 500 daily for the best photographs of the expo.

Wearing linen shirts remains a dream for many men due to its high price. But, the customers were taken aback when they visited the Dinesh stall which offers 10 to 60 per cent discount for clothes at the expo. Linen shirts worth Rs 1000 are being sold only for Rs 350 here.

Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board, in collaboration with the authorised Khadi institutes, have set up Khadi stalls for the lovers of khadi outfits. A rebate of 30 per cent will be available at the sales which will be agile till the day of Uthradam.
