Another blow for Congress: Wayanad DCC General Secretary joins BJP

Kalpetta: The General Secretary of Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC), P. M. Sudhakaran, has resigned from the Congress and switched allegiance to the BJP, dealing yet another setback to the grand old party. Sudhakaran cited his attraction to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development-focused political vision as a key reason for joining the BJP, which he views as the most suitable party for this era.

Speaking at a reception held at the NDA election committee office in Kalpetta, Sudhakaran questioned how Rahul Gandhi could claim to be accessible to ordinary people if he was unreachable even to a DCC General Secretary like himself. He further challenged Rahul to declare that he would not contest from Amethi.

Sudhakaran emphasised that if NDA candidate K. Surendran wins this election, the development-focused politics championed by Narendra Modi would extend to Wayanad. He argued that Surendran's victory would greatly benefit the people of Wayanad. "Wayanad will suffer if Rahul continues for another term, having deceived the people for five years," he added.

In addition to Sudhakaran, retired forest range officer Sasikumar, and civil engineer Prajeesh also joined the BJP at the event.
