Poll fervor: Modi, Rahul arrive in Kerala for campaign

Kochi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Kochi for his party’s poll campaign. The prime minister who is residing in Ernakulam guest house will leave for Thrissur in a helicopter on Monday morning. The PM will address the gathering at the BJP election campaign venue in Kunnamkulam. The programme will begin at 11 AM.

Modi will appeal to the people to vote for NDA candidates T N Sarasu and Suresh Gopi, contesting in Alathur and Thrissur respectively.

After attending the campaign in Thrissur, he will head towards Nedumbassery. And from there, the PM will fly to Thiruvananthapuram in a special flight. There, he is scheduled to attend campaign activities at Kattakada which is part of the Attingal parliamentary constituency. 

At Kattakkada, Modi will campaign for V Muraleedharan and Rajeev Chandrashekar, the two union ministers contesting under the NDA banner.

This is Modi’s second visit to Kerala after the announcement of LS poll dates. Earlier, on March 19, he had taken part in the BJP campaign in Palakkad and Pathanamthitta.       

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi will kickstart his election campaign activities in Northern Kerala today. The Congress leader who is the UDF candidate from Wayanad parliamentary constituency will land in Kannur airport this morning. From there he will head to Wayanad straight away. Rahul is scheduled to attend a road show of the UDF starting from Sulthan Bathery at 10 AM.

Later on, at Pulpally, Rahul will take part in a meeting of the farmers, He will also join three other road shows. From there, the Congress leader will travel to Kozhikode to attend a campaign rally at the beach which is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM. 

Through his visit, Rahul intends to extensively campaign for UDF candidates from Malappuram, Kozhikode and Vadakara assembly constituencies via various programs. He had visited Wayanad earlier this month to file his nomination.     

Polling in Kerala for the general elections will be held on April 26 for all 20 constituencies.
