'Kafir' jibe: Accused Muhammed Kasim moves HC seeking to find real culprit

Vadakara: The main accused in the 'Kafir' jibe case, Muhammed Kasim, who also serves as the district secretary of the MSF, has filed a private complaint at the High Court. In his complaint, Kasim seeks to identify the culprit responsible for spreading a fake WhatsApp message in his name.
He has moved the high court through Advocate Muhammed Shah. The High Court is set to hear the petition on Friday.
Statement of KK Lathika recorded
The statement of CPM State committee member and former MLA K K Lathika was recorded in this connection. Lathika, wife of CPM Kozhikode secretary P Mohanan, had shared the controversial ‘Kaffir’ screenshot on her Facebook page.
In this context, a team, led by Vadakara inspector T P Sumesh, reached her residence at Kakkat and recorded her statement.
The controversial Whatsapp text in the name of Kasim was released on May 25 evening. The message mentioned the LDF candidate as ‘Kafir’. Soon it was spread widely through social media. Lathika also shared the same.
The police team sought to know from her the source of the message.
